Hp envy 13 Fan always on

Hp envy 13
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I would like to hear it from Hp please. I have the Hp envy 13 and would like to know if it is ok to disable the 'fan always on' in the Bios? If not then why do Hp offer this option?

Many Thanks

Hp envy 13 Fan always on

Hey @fxmikey,

Welcome to the HP Support Forums! This is a great place to find solutions and help from our community!

I understand you have some inquiries about the fan in your HP Envy 13. I'd be happy to help.

I do not recommend that you change the core settings in the BIOS from the original state that were set. Not to say that it can't be done, It's just advised against.

If you are having issues with the fan, you may want to check out this document on 'Fan is Noisy and Spins Constantly, PC is Warmer than Normal' as it may help.

Please keep me posted.

Hp envy 13 Fan always on

I had the same laptop, and my fans make an annoying noise! I recognized 3 fan speeds:

1. the slower (low cpu temp.)

2. medium speed (middle cpu temp.)

3. the faster (high cpu temp.)

Even in condition of zero activity (no high usage of RAM or cpu, that has a temp. of 38-42°C, as I check), i can only hear the second speed (2.); that fans make a noise that is intolerable over long time of laptop usage, when I should hear only the slower fans.

I also updated the BIOS to the last version (F36) but nothing was solved.

The laptop is new (january 2016) so no dust problems.
