How can I reset my password for windows? I am the only admin and I'm not sure why it doesn't work anymore... Has happened numerous times and my son would reset it for me, but he's no longer admin privs. Had staples fix it one time and that's when it started. My laptop is a HP Pavilion dv6 notebook PC, I am running windows 7 64-bit home edition The error mesage I get when I log in is: Hresult 0x8007ffff

Review this thread as it covers a similar issue.

Locosta, message 3 of 30, covers the options that are available.

If none of the options listed work, then I'm afraid that a full system recovery will be needed.  I certainly hope it does not come to that.
