HP Pavilion dv6 Notebook PC
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)
  • I have my PC about 3 or 4 years ago with preinstalled windows 7 . I've created 5 dvd's for recovery . I found out one of the dvd's might be damaged .
  • I've tried to download windows from microsoft then :-

       a) The OEM windows iso download is redirecting me to the manufacurer which is hp.

       b) The manufacturer drivers page doesn't show "recovery media " software , means "not supported" .

       c) Available ISO on internet are for OEM windows , not the pre installed OS on my hp notebook . So , it doesn't accept my windows product number . THIS TAKES ME BACK TO POINT (a).

       d) This is an endless loop .

CONCLUSION:-

1. IMPOSSIBLE TO RECOMMEND HP NOTEBOOKS.

2. IMPOSSIBLE TO RECOMMENT ANY PREINSTALLED OS . AS IT'S NOT SUPPORTED BY MICROSOFT.

Hey AK, what's the model number for your PC?  It should be something like dv7-12345XX

HP does not maintain the stock of older unit recovery kits. However, there are third party companies where you can but the recovery kit. Here is one such third party link where many customers successfully purchases working recovery kit:
