Solved!

Install memory

HP Recommended
elitebook 8440p
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

I tried to install new memory (2 -- 4 gig ) but i could only find one memory slot ,so I installed the 1- 4 gig stick

now my memory is at 6 gig so I know there is another 2 gig stick hiding some place ???HELP !!

See p. 4-16 and forward here:

 

Your Manual

 

There is a "primary" and "expansion" module. You likely found the port for the expansion but there is another slot under the keyboard as shown in the manual.
