Pavilion dv7

One day, my laptop was running slow, so I performed a hhd check and the hhd was running fine. I took the computer apart to clean off the dust (with Isoprople Alchohol 50% and a rag) so see if that would help, but then I took out the CPU (to prevent damage to the dye and the factory thermal pad  because I didn't have any thermal paste or pads to replace it with.) After powering it back on, the CMOS (Whatever it is) popped up, then the "No Boot Divice Found" popped up, and after rebooting it, the Intel AT popped up, saying that it locked the system because of a "Platform Attack." I've tried to flash the BIOS (Which is an Insyde vendor with vesion F1.B) and that didn't do anything. I've tried to install both Windows 10 and Windows 7 Home Preimium (which is the default OS) and nothing happened. Can anyone help me get past this so that I can have my computer back?

Hi @RobertBorrero07,

Good Day.  A warm welcome to the HP community. I reviewed the post regarding issues with a bricked motherboard. I will be delighted to assist you here.

Splendid description, brilliant troubleshooting and great observations made before posting. Kudos to you for that. 🙂

To assist you accurately I would require more information regarding this.

Please let me know the complete model# of the computer.

You’ve done great troubleshooting and also tried to update the bios and it has not helped. This needs to be dealt with by inspecting the motherboard either by rewriting the bios or replacing the motherboard or processor.

So please contact HP phone support to get the computer serviced.

HP Technical Support can be reached by clicking on the following link: http://h22207.www2.hp.com/us-en/?openCLC=true

(1) Once the support page opens please select the country in which you're located. Next, enter your HP model number on the right.

(2) Next, choose the 'Contact Support' tab at the top and scroll down to the bottom of the 'HP Support- Contact' page to fill out the form provided with your contact information.

(3) Once completed click the 'Show Options' icon on the bottom right.

(4) Lastly, scroll down to the bottom of the page and select 'Get phone number.' A case number and phone number will now populate for you.

They will be happy to assist you immediately. If the unit is under warranty repair services is taken care of by the manufacturer’s warranty

If the computer is more than 3 years old, then service options for the computer may not be available and you will need to contact a local Best Buy or Staples technician to get this fixed.

You could try a bios roll back by following these steps from this link: https://support.hp.com/us-en/product/HP-Pavilion-10-x2-PC/7439381/model/7468031/document/c02693833 that may fix the issue.

Try both the both options of pressing the Windows key and the letter B simultaneously along with the power button for 5 seconds or try to use a USB flash drive to download the bios and flash it on your computer from the steps provided.

Please perform all these steps patiently as it is critical to resolving the issue. The trick is to remain patient, please. Please note that I am not overloading you with a lot of troubleshooting steps.

Instead, just like you, I am eager to ensure that the problem gets resolved. So I am providing you with more resources and information at your disposal to deal with the situation better.

Hope this helps. Let me know how this goes. I genuinely hope the issue gets resolved without hassles and the unit works great.

To simply say thanks, please click the "Thumbs Up" button to give me a Kudos to appreciate my efforts to help. If this helps, please mark this as “Accepted Solution” as it will help several others with the same issue to get it resolved without hassles.

Take care now and have a superb week ahead. 🙂
