Hi @Hugh5691,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your keyboard and touchpad aren't working on your HP laptop running Windows 11, but they work in recovery mode, it's likely a driver issue. Here’s how to get and install the necessary drivers.

Update Drivers via Device Manager

  1. Press Win + X and select Device Manager.
  2. Expand Keyboards and Mice and other pointing devices.
  3. Right-click on your keyboard and touchpad devices (e.g., HID Keyboard Device, Synaptics Touchpad) and select Update driver.
  4. Choose Search automatically for updated driver software. Windows will search for and install any available updates.

Download Drivers from HP Support

  1. Go to the HP Support website.
  2. Enter your laptop’s model number and search for drivers.
  3. Download the latest drivers for your keyboard and touchpad. Look under Driver-Keyboard, Mouse and Input Devices and Driver-Touchpad sections.
  4. Install the drivers and restart your laptop.

Reinstall Drivers

  1. In Device Manager, right-click the keyboard and touchpad devices and select Uninstall device.
  2. Restart your laptop. Windows should automatically reinstall the drivers upon reboot.

Check for Windows Updates

  1. Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update.
  2. Click Check for updates to ensure you have the latest system updates that might include relevant driver updates.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
