Keyboard problems

HP G61
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

Problems starting up on entering password.  Laptop not responding when hit majority of keys but when pressing any key on the qwerty line 'asdfghjkl' the screen responds by repeating the character pressed.

There have been no spill ages on the keyboard and have vacuumed the keyboard to clear any crumbs etc.

Does anyone know this problem and have a solution please?

Keyboard problems

Hi PhilQ,

Welcome to HP Support Forum

It looks like you have an issue with the Keyboard on your Notebook.

I’d like to help.

Let’s try these steps-

  1. Right click on Start or Windows icon and open Device Manager.
  2. Expand Keyboard from the list.
  3. Right click on Standard PS/2 Keyboard and click on Uninstall.
  4. Restart the computer.

Let me know how that goes.
