Laptop 17-p161dx
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I bought a HP Laptop and it has died less than 1 week after the 1 yr warranty expired. On turning on I hear it starting up but it never displays anything on the screen. I have tried other external screens. I took it to a computer repair guy and he said the problem was motherboard not recognised and probablty overheated and is not worth replacing motherboard.  HP support don't want to talk to me without me paying them and I won;t do that as I fear I have wasted enough money with HP on this laptop. Really disappointed that HP build laptops that last 1 yr + a week and the support is rubbish. Anyone got an idea how I can get any support from HP without throwing good money after bad?

About all you can do is post here. We can attempt to escalate and see if HP offers any solution. Otherwise we are able to help you find a motherboard. The computer repair guy might be overstating the case. You might decide it is better to replace the motherboard once we figure what it actually would cost.

Thanks. You mention attempting to escalate. How would I go about that?

I already did it. Wait and see if an HP person comes in and gives further instructions.

Thanks!
