Pavilion 10
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I am running Windows 10 on a HP Pavilion. I went into Task Manager and the CPU and Disk Usage is less than 5%. Also when I go to the Power options, all it shows is Shut Down and Restart; Sleep is missing, which it seems to do when the fan runs like it does. I can't tell if the laptop is dusty or if something's downloading in the background that I can't find or if there's another issue.

- see This HP web document if you don't how to locate the model number and\or product number.

Did your notebook happen to have a recent BIOS update?

Check in the BIOS power section to ensure that Fan always on is  disabled.

Product Name: HP Pavilion 17 Notebook PC

Product Number: E0J75UA#ABA

As far as I know, I have not had a BIOS update. I don't know where to look to disable the Fan Always On function.

Right now, the computer has been quiet. I restarted the computer and the fan noise stopped and the Sleep option has come back. I don't know how long that will last.

In Windows 10:

Settings--> Update & Security --> Below the Update status heading you will see a hyperlink that says Update history. Click on it and you will see which updates have occurred.

In the BIOS:

It is actually a problem with the video card or driver. The problem only happens when I go to a page that has video embedded in it. The problem is that when I go to the manufacturer website and download an updated program / driver, Screen Select (or whatever it's called) says not to run the program. So I haven't updated the program / driver yet even though a scan of the program says it's all right.
