Laptop Overheating and Draining Battery

HP Recommended

I have been using "HP Pavilion dv6-6165tx Entertainment Notebook" for almost 1.5 years now. Earlier my laptop on battery would run more than 3 hours, but now it is overheating and the battery is dying in almost 1 hour. Now I have never cleaned my laptop fan or anything from the inside because I don't know how to do it. So I want to ask if overheating and battery drain is due to my battery getting old and worn out or it may be because of the dust which causes the overheat thus reducing the battery life. I want to know this so I should either buy a new battery or get it cleaned from someone.
Thanks.

Please see "Reducing Heat Inside the PC to Prevent Overheating" and "Improving System Performance without Adding Memory (Windows 7)" for initial steps to be taken in resolving your isuues.

Overheating stresses all the components and may place extra load on the battery, thus reducing its run time. Cleaning the computer and blowing out every nook and cranny of dust will help the computer run cooler. Over time, the Window registry and start programs list became longer causing more unneeded processes to run. This can short the battery's run time as well. Try the above and see if that helps. Report back if you continue to have issues.
