My HP laptop does not hibernate at low battery instead, it turns off (not shutting down). I'm getting the low battery warning when the battery is at 18%. the critical battery level is set at 10% and critical battery action is Hibernate. it is not hibernating even after the battery level reaches below 10.  it goes till 7-6 % and turns off. I also tried with different critical battery levels. I've even tried battery calibration multiple times but no use.  And when I charge my laptop it reaches 100%  but when I hover the mouse over the battery sign it says 100% available (plugged in, charging) and the battery indicator never turns to white from red. Please Help

Hello, @iceman92 - Hope you are well 🙂

Thank you for becoming an HP Forum member. It is a great location to get help from the community, get suggestions and find what has worked for others!

I see that you are having trouble with the HP notebook. As I understand, the laptop just shuts down once the battery goes below 10%. Appreciate all your troubleshooting efforts so far 🙂

Let's try the steps listed here first: http://hp.care/2nB4vkq

If the issue persists, please perform a battery test as well as an adapter test to determine any hardware defects. Here are the steps:

  1. Hold the power button for at least five seconds to turn off the computer.
  2. Turn on the computer and immediately press Esc to get the Startup menu. Now press F2 key.
  3. The HP PC Hardware Diagnostics (UEFI) main menu is displayed.
  4. Select the "Component test" and then select "battery test" from the list.
  5. Once done, perform an adapter test as well.
  6. Let me know if the test passes or not.

Thanks, I’ll watch for your reply!

Good luck 🙂
