Laptop won't "See" external keyboard

Probook 6460b
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I am trying to use a Logitech PS/2 media keyboard with a ps/s to USB adapter. The problem is that the laptop won't recognize the keyboard -- it gets power, the number lock light comes on -- but the keyboard doesn't show up under devices and attempting to use it has no impact on what happens on the screen.

Does anyone know what I can do to get the keyboard to work with my probook?

Thanks.
