Maximum memory allowance for HP Pavilion dv7-7010us

HP Recommended

HP Pavilion dv7-7010us
Windows 7 (64-bit)

Hello!
As the subject suggests, I am looking for the maximum memory allowance for my new HP Pavilion dv7-7010us notebook.

I am aware that my computer has two memory slots filled with one 2GB DDR3 SDRAM and one 4GB DDR3 SDRAM.
If someone could also tell me the ideal chip combination (2x4GB, 2x16GB, etc.) to achieve the maximum memory allowance, that would be much appreciated. Thanks!

Hi, Angelo:

Below is the link to the service manual for your notebook.

Supported memory configurations can be found in chapter 1 on page 4.

Hi,

I can't find its specs but based on the following link it can take only 8Gb:

   http://reviews.shopping.hp.com/8843/B5S15UA_BVEP_ABA/hp-pavilion-dv7-7010us-entertainment-notebook-p...

If that was the case then 2x4Gb should be fine.

Regards.

Excellent! Thank you!
Silly me, I looked everywhere on the internet and not in the owner's manual. What a beginner's mistake!
Haha.

Again, thank you for your help.

I had seen that review as well, but the owner's manual reveals a possible 16GB DDR3 SDRAM setup

Hi,

I actually saw (and downloaded) more than 1 manual for DV7 series and I myself have one dv7 (just opened its box yesterday).

Regards.

You're very welcome, Angelo.

Normally the product specs page indicates the maximum memory upgrade, but for whatever reason, the product specs page for your model doesn't.

If you plan to max it out, note that you can run PC3-1600 (12800) memory in there so you may as well get that vice the PC3-1333 (10600).

Hm...
Well, at this point, I'll have to wait because I just bought this memory upgrade kit, so I hope that the manual that was provided to me was the correct one.
I don't understand how such a simple question could be so difficult to get a clear answer on...
Anyway, here's to hoping I didn't just waste my money!

Hey, Paul, could you possibly approve that the memory I bought (link in previous post) will work on my laptop?

Hi, Angelo:

It should, based on the specs.

I usually go for the more generic stuff like this. Never had any problems with these brands.

Here's yours with some consumer ratings...

Please post back and let us know how your memory upgrade went.
