Hi, this morning my wifes laptop stopping working. When we plug in the charging lead it is dead, the little light near the charging port will not light up. We thought it was the charger so I borrowed one from work, but the laptop is still dead. Then I read all over the internet, google and the HP forums that this is a very common problem with this model of laptop. And what has actually happened is that the mother board has burned out, this explains my wife smelling something strange just after she closed down the laptop this morning.
I purchased this laptop in the U.S whilst on a business trip but I was living in the United Kingdom. At the minute I am living in Thailand in Bangkok, I know my warranty has expired by I'm hoping because this is such a very very common problem that HP are willing to replace the mother board for me free of charge - with a unit which will not have this problem again in the future.
I have read of so many cases of this exact issue, that the mother board burns out - and this is definitely the same problem we are having. Because it is so common we are hopeful HP will kindly offer to repair the laptop.
