Solved!

Mouse Pad Settings Restore to Default upon Restart

HP Recommended
HP ENVY 17
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Since upgrading to Windows 10, my click pad mouse pad settings restore to the default settings every time I restart my laptop. This is incredibly annoying. Please can someone from HP actually fix this? I've tried everything. I even contacted Microsoft who said that HP should provide a fix for it or work with their click pad vendor to do so.

Ahhhh!!!

Hi,

Try the following.

Hold down the Windows key and press R

Into the Run box type regedit and hit enter

In the Registry Editor, navigate to the following

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Synaptics\SynTP\Install

Inside, look for a key named DeleteUserSettingsOnUpgrade

If this is present, right click the key and select Modify

Set the Value data field to 0 ( Zero ) and then click Ok.

Close the Registry Editor.

Make the Synaptics setting changes you require in the usual way and save them, then check if they're now retained after a reboot.

Regards,

DP-K
