I take it you tried that resolution and it did not work.
In some instances, I have found that reinstalling the sound driver resolves the issue. I provided a link to the Windows 7 64bit driver for your system since that is what it came with.
Try installing that driver and let me know what happens.

same thing happened to me. hard drive crashed. installed a SSD and a fresh copy of window7. everything was going fine and had all drivers installed. when i ran hp support assistant, it updated the bios and i lost the audio and i can't get it back.
i tried revert to old bios (hold windows and B key and hold down power button) and then f10 to restore the default bios and reinstalled audio drivers again and still no go.
