My laptop makes a sort of crackling noise whenever it is doing something, almost like an electrical noise i.e. during start up, opening a new app or searching for something on google. It isn't a problem with the audio, and I believe it isn't a problem with the fan as the sound comes from a different part of the laptop as the fan.
Is this most likely normal and something that I should put up with or shall I take it back?
Thanks in advance!

Hi @mtnr96 ,
Thanks for reaching out! A very Good Day to you. :) Hope you are doing well. :) I understand that you need assistance with the crackling noise on your new computer. I’ll be glad to assist you with this.:)
You’ve done an excellent job on diagnosing the issue from your end. Kudos to you on that score. :) It is always a privilege to work with tech-savvy and technically competent customers like you. :) We greatly value your relationship with HP. You are a valued HP customer and we appreciate you greatly for doing business with HP. I take it as a privilege to share this platform with you. :).
First off, it looks like a hardware issue.
Please check with a headset and find out if the noise comes from the headset also.
Secondly, it could be the hard drive that is making the noise.
Please run complete system diagnostics from this link: http://support.hp.com/in-en/document/c03467259
It takes about 2 hours to run and if they all pass, update all the drivers from http://hp.com/drivers including the bios, chipset, audio and video drivers.
If the noise continues please contact HH phone support to get the unit serviced. Link http://hpcom/contacthp
If it is within a return window, You could also return the unit as you’ve diagnosed it not to be the fan or the speakers.
Hope this helps. Let me know how this pans out. I genuinely hope the issue gets resolved without hassles and the unit works great. :) Please reach out for any issues and I'll be there to assist you. :)
