Office 2000 install error 1919 in Windows 8.

How do I install Office 2000 on HP g7-2243US Pavillion with Windows 8 in order to upgrade to new office version without getting install error 1919 and error configuration ODBC data source Visual FoxPro Database ODBC error 6; component not found in registry?  Or must I buy new version and dispense with upgrade?

Microsoft stopped support of officce 2000 back in 2009, you may have to find a newer version.

Thanks so much.  This is very helpful to know.  Will Word and Excel documents of office 2000 from old desktop transfer to new HP laptop that has a current version of office?

Office 2000, updates, service packs and compatibility updates all worked in Windows 7.  They also worked in the early test system of Windows 8. Apparently something has changed because I now am getting the same  error 1919 this user was complaining about with my new HP desktop. There seem to be some ODBC data sources for both 32 and 64 bit listed in the programs section. Can I install these and have the program load? Any Idea why these hooks to older ODBC sources are missing? Any help would be appreciated and since you work for HP I am sure you can find the answers.:smileyhappy:

Hello supresid,

You will need to buy a new version.  It simply isn't compatible.

Good luck!

Did you ever find a solution to the ODBC error 6 problem?  I'm having the same issue.
