Pavilion dv6-3040sa, black screen, flashing caps lock

I have pavilion dv6-7078ca
suddenly it can't start .. caps lock flashed all time .. wireless button lights orange

nothing on the screen at all

when i let it about an hour and trying  it starts .. but when shut it down the problem returns

I had exactly this problem with my dv6-3040sa. My university computing service said it was the motherboard, but when I took it to a repair shop at home, they said it was the graphics card. They replaced it and it works perfectly now! Much cheaper than a new laptop or motherboard!

HP laptops in general have problems with cooling. If you use it a lot in hibernate or sleep mode then it can overheat as it uses passive cooling in these modes, which is not enough to keep temperatures at safe levels. 

To prevent this, don't use sleep or hibernate modes, turn it off or keep it on, and get a cooling mat!

I was having the same problem. My hp pavilion dv6 suddenly stop working. The sign were similar like black screen and caps/num lock light blinking. So I start googling what's wrong with my machine after attempting different kind of solutions, I found one works for me.

This method is called reflowing, In this remedy you have to heat up your mother board in a certain way. You will find reflow videos on youtube easily.

This method works for me.

Please I've th similar problem with my dv6-6c35dx model. With my the pattern of the blink of the caps lock blinks 5 times. What should I do? thank you

ohh I need help my hp g 62 pc is unable to show any thing, the screen stays black when I turn z power on, capslock blinking once with a 3 second interval, wifi button is red and not changing a bit, what should I do?

Pavilion dv6-3046eo, black screen,  caps lock flashing. 1 flash every 4th sec.

Worked fine until is died suddenly yesterday morning.

Access DVD for a short moment.

Tried hard reset, F10 to get to the BIOS, memory in different positions, HDD out, battery out.

But nothing seems to change the situation. Continues blink om caps-lock every 4th sec.
