hey I just want to say thank you for helping me find the solution to my webcam problem. It seemed to be a hardware issue with the webcam/microphone connector as was pointed out in the previous forum. Once again "THANK YOU" very much for your guidance!!

if mic module not working then this is definitly wire problem

if mic module working fine then its defintly sofware problem, driver, usb conflicts, operating system bug or very rarely webcam is dead!

I just wanted to correct this suggestion, at least for my laptop (DV7-7115nr).  My mic was working fine, but my HP TrueVision HD webcam was not detected (it was showing up as an unknown device in the device manager).

I opened the screen bezel at the top and pushed a bit on the wire under some chip as suggested in several other posts.  Basically did what was described / shown in the following two videos:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RKGz4lvYnhc

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jOpS6GD0hZo

Upon reboot, my webcam was immediately detected, driver installed automatically and began working.

So, just wanted to correct the suggestion that a working mic and non-working camera meant a definite software issue.  In my case a working mic and non-working webcam turned out being a loose camera wire.

I hope this ends up being helpful to anyone else looking for the same info.

A simple fix that took me months to find the solution for hope this helps let me know
