I have a HP Notebook - 14-am080tu that I bought from Officeworks last week and it was the last one they had so I took the demo one. They said they would factory reset it for me but when I go it home (170kms away) I have found it still has their account on it and it won't let me install anything or manage anything without a pasword.
I have tried going into the HP recovery section but again it wants a password. I have also tried pushing f11 on boot but it just takes me into a windows 10 recovery option and askes for recovery media which I do not have.
Is there any other way of reseting this machine as I don't want to do the 320km round trip just to get it reset where I bought it from?
Welcome to HP Support Forums. 🙂 I came across your post and would like to help.
I understand that you have purchased a new HP Notebook - 14-am080tu that had been kept as a demo unit at the store. Now you see that the previous account on it and it won't let you install anything on it without a password. You have tried going to the recovery manager and it required the password. Even booting to the recovery partition (f11), takes you to a recovery option and asks for recovery media. Not worry, I'll do my best to help you.
You will need the recovery media for this laptop to perform a system recovery. I suggest you to contact our HP phone support to get the recovery media for your laptop model.
Please find the link which might be helpful in future. It has the different ways of performing a system recovery.
I hope this helps. Please feel free to let me know if you have any questions. All the best! 🙂
