Hi,

Today turned on the laptop and got a setup box asking which operation I want to perform: remove the software or repair. I don't know why this happened. Should I remove or repair? The laptop has an AMD processor not Intel, but I did just do an update to the wireless card. Could that have something do with this?

Thanks

Hello @shl1024,

Thank you for the quick reply!

Check to see if your BIOS is up to date.  You can use the Windows Update, to check for drivers that will work with Windows 10.  You can check this site as well: HP Products - Where Do I Find Windows 10 Drivers and Software for My Model?

If you are having trouble installing the drivers, you can use the tool at the following site:

Open the Windows Update troubleshooter

It is possible that drivers may not be available for your product.  If that is the case, or the drivers you found are not working, try using the solutions on this site as a workaround, and let me know how it goes: How to: Install and Update drivers in Windows 10

I hope this helps.

Hello @shl1024,

Welcome back to the HP Support Forums!

I read your post about the Intel Technology Access issue, and wanted to assist you!

What did you use to upgrade the wireless card?  You should be alright with removing the program, if it is not needed.

Please let me know if this information was helpful by clicking the thumbs up below.

Have a great day!

Thanks. What I ended up doing was choosing repair. Nothing bad happened so I guess that was enough. Anyhow, I have noticed in the device manager there is a reference to an unknown device. The only peripherals I hook up are the external mouse, a wacom tablet, and a printer (the mouse is almost always used, the printer and tablet some of the time). When checking the details of the unknown device, in the details tab, device instance path, the value is ROOT\NET\0000.

Sorry for taking so long to get back here. :smileyembarrassed:

I did get a BIOS update and so far everything's good there. But now have been noticing another periodically occurring problem. The laptop randomly shuts down and restarts a little while after startup. I've gone into system settings and changed automatic restart on failure to unchecked. I'll monitor this and come back on a new thread if anything happens with that in the future.
