Replacing wifi card

Envy M6
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Any help please. I have HP ENVY m6-1178sa Notebook PC running Windows 10 x64 fitted with an Intel Centrino Wireless-N 2230 single band wifi card. How do I upgrade this to a suitable dual band card. Which model works best? Thanks

Replacing wifi card

It has the BIOS whitelist on wireless cards. That means if you put any but the handful of HP branded cards approved for this model into the laptop, it will refuse to boot up with an error message. None of the available cards is a dual band. 

 

That is the official line. Here is a somewhat old thread that suggests an Intel N-6235 will work. Provided for discussion only I cannot guarantee any of this:
