Screen displays preparing automatic repair only.

My laptop displays preparing automatic repair and won't boot up.  The screen just goes black.  What do I do?

Hello,

I see that you're having an issue booting the notebook. Could you tell me what OS you have?

I look forward to your response.

Hello, I am having the same issue as the user above. The computer turns on to a blue screen and then shows the HP symbol and under it says "preparing automatic repair" then the screen goes blue again. I have tried to hard reset, and to press f2 at 1sec intervals. There is no blinking code on the caps lock. The OS is Windows 8, The notebook was purschased in december and is new. What to do is the question?

OK, have you tried booting into safe mode?

Just hold the Shift button and mash the F8 key as soon as you boot the notebook.

Just let me know if you can get into safe mode.

I look forward to your response.

I did attempt to Reboot in safe mode as instructed and now it only "displays preparing automatic repair" for just a few seconds and then there is nothing showing upon the screen.

OK, was your Win8 installation a digital upgrade or did you use a CD to install the OS?

OK, did you get a Win8 repair CD with the notebook?
