Hello;

Allow me to welcome you to the HP forums!

This could be due to either or both of two problems:

1) Screen dying

2) Video chipset failing

To check out 1), connect an external monitor to a video output jack and reboot the laptop.

IF the flickering is present on both the laptop screen and the external monitor, it means your video chipset is failing and since those are not customer replaceable parts, you would have to get the laptop serviced to repair that.

If the flickering is only present on the laptop screen but not on the external monitor, that means your screen is failing and needs to be replaced.

To have these done, you would need to contact an HP Service Center:  http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c00372730?jumpid=reg_r1002_usen_c-001_title_r0004

Good Luck
