Service Control Manager

HP Pavilion Gaming laptop
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

i am getting this error lots

Event ID 7000

The Computer Browser service failed to start due to the following error:

The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion.

googled it but got refence to windows 7 could not find anything in regards to windows 10

any advice

Thank you for posting in the HP Support Forum.

 

I think you see this error in the Windows Event log.  If you only see it there and if you do not experience any issues, you can safely ignore it.

 

Some general tips:

* Ensure your Windows is fully updated to clear out the possibility of some known bug

* Check your computer for viruses/malware using the built-in Windows Defender or the free HitmanPro from SurfRight/SOPHOS >> http://www.surfright.nl/en/hitmanpro

 

If the above didn't help, you can apply the workaround mentioned here >> https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/922918  to extend the default service time out time.

the solution seems to be for windows server, is there an offical fix for windows 10
