The keyboard will not function on a compaq presario cq60-215d

I have a Compaq Presario CQ60-215DX notebook computer running Windows Vista.   The keyboard will not function after the computer has been in the hibernation mode.  When I go to the keyboard properties in the control panel there is no device shown.   The computer still has full functionality except for the keyboard.  I can restart the computer and the keyboard will work and the device shows up under keyboard properties.   I did a complete recovery and reload of Vista but the problem still exists.   Any ideas?

Thanks for the reply.....Why do you think that it is a BIOS issue when the problem is intermitent?   Isn't a BIOS update a fairly risky thing to do?     Could you recommend a site that would give me instructions on how to do the update?
