Top Row of Keys Malfunction

HP Envy m6 Notebook
Microsoft Windows 10 (32-bit)

To Whom who can help,

Hi, I recently noticed, in the past two days, that the top row of my keyboard (which is the esc through pg dn keys), for clarification, are not working properly. Everytime I hit the button to change my volume it somehow highlights a different area. When I press the buttons in order to change my brightness nothing happens as well. I have not dropped my computer, but I did have it connected to my TV, via HDMI cord. I have restarted my computer and an update occured but did not fix the problem. After that I shutdown my computer to see if it just needed a complete reboot, and stll no change has occured. If anyone could offer a solution that would be great! Thank you in advance and for taking the time to resolve my solution.

Sincerely,

Kahari
