UFT 11.51 - general run error on keyword: "Browser().Navigate"

product name: UFT v.11.51

OS: win 7 64 bit + IE 8

error message is: "general run error" on the line with: Browser("abc").Navigate ("url")

Until today it was working OK, but after i changed the url link for value from DataTable it started to thrown general run error. What is strange, after i changed it back to the url the general error pops up again 😞

i googled couple solutions and tried them but without succes. here is the list what i tried until now:

1)

restart UFT, IE , whole OS

2)

DescribeResult(err.number) in debugging gives me nothing 😞 (currently i dont know the exact message because iam trying to reinstall UFT)

3) i googled solution were running quicktestprofessional.bat file under Bin directory should help, but i did not find this file under uft installation....

what else can i try?

thank you for your time and knowledge.

Hi All,

I have found the solution here:

In my case it was disabled addon in IE: BHO Manager Class, so when i enabled it, everything work fine again!

UFT 11.51 - general run error on keyword: "Browser().Navigate"

Hello,

there is a work-around for this issue:

(Using UFT 11.53 with non-supported IE9 atm.)

Click on WinObject  "object class=AddressDisplay Control"

Browser.WinObject("AddressDisplay").Click

Now, you have to match an WinEdit, cause after clicking the WinObject, it turns to an WinEdit:

Set a string into the WinEdit "Class Name=WinEdit" with the identifier "windowstyle"

Browser.WinEdit("1442906240").Set "http://www.some-url.de"

For executing the navigate, you´ll need a submit via typing return meanwhile the focussed WinEdit

Type Return in WinEdit "Class Name=WinEdit" with the identifier "windowstyle"

Browser.WinEdit("1442906240").Type micReturn

Summary:

Browser.WinObject("AddressDisplay").Click

Browser.WinEdit("1442906240").Set "http://www.some-url.de"

Browser.WinEdit("1442906240").Type micReturn

Hope it´ll also work for you without any problems.

Regards

Patrick
