Hey there, so here's my story:
I installed Vista Business on my new laptop (HP ProBook 4310s) this morning. Everything went well like setting my credentials (password, fingerprint etc.)... I decided to shrink my hdd to create a dual boot with ubuntu.
But then it all went wrong. After GParted was done I couldn't boot Vista anymore (corrupted system files).
So well i had no choice to reinstall my Vista again via my recovery partition so that's what I did. But now I can't re-set my 'new' fingerprints because the old (random generated) fingerprint password is still active.
Anyone know how to reset my the fingerprint password?
I already tried to access the BIOS but it seems the option has been grayed out.
Thanks very much.

Your problem is not unique. I have the same issue, and I have seen others with the problem also. I called HP, and they don't have a solution short of me sending my laptop in for service. I haven't seen a solution written in english that I can understand yet.

I have just found the solution. It took me 6 hours. I'll come back later and try to describe the steps. (I am not sure if can remember them in the right order)
But make sure that you install hp protect tools security from the DVD.
then second you are to set a bios administrator password (other wise you have no chance)
third while restarting computer press esc enter the Start up Section choose the administor then enable fingerprints reset option.
once you have started the window the system will ask you a new password.

It hasn't worked for me yet. After disabling the Fingerprint in the BIOS/Built-In hardware, I was finally able to uninstall the HP Security Suite. I needed to install a different drive encryption package.
The Reset Fingerprint option was greyed out in the BIOS. How do we re-enable it?
