Re: Upgrade possible to Intel AC 7260 802.11ac Wi-Fi ? HP Elitebook 8470p

Well, I had this exact question about adding an intel Wireless-AC 7260 to my HP 8470p this past Saturday (5/16/2015) as a matter of fact. I came across this thread and others on the internet and there is conflicting information on if it will work or not, and guess what. I ordered it on amazon for $30 and with Prime it just arrived. I figured for $30 it was worth a try and I could easily return it if it didn't work.

It works. I have windows 8.1 and I didn't even have to install the drivers. It just picked it right up. I don't have an AC router yet but will be picking one up on my way home. I can connect to my 802.11G network at work just fine.

Hope this helps.

Was wondering the same thing now that the AC has come out.

Did you have a intel C advanced 2x2 N6205 or a Intel C ultimate 3x3 N6300?

I was wondering if the AC card needed the 3 antenna or 2 intel card? Guessing it would be easier to install

if the system came wit a 2x2 card originally or could you just not attach one antenna?

Right now I have a 8460p with a ICA N6205 wifi card

I have the SLOWEST ATT Uverse. The speed tests only get max 1 Mbps download so I guess right now upgrading a wifi card is pointless??? It's mostly under 1 Mbps.

The networking wireless speed on the taskbar alternates between an average of 50 to 100 Mbps.

I might like to leave this for a future project as I am lookinginto getting a 8570w hopefully with a N6300 but maybe the N6205 2x2 may be easier to replace with this intel double AC 7260?

Thanks

Not sure if anyone is still following this or wondering, but I too have installed the Intel 7260AC in my EliteBook 8570p.

Windows 10 detected it right away and then downloaded the most recent drivers right after.  It works great :generic:
