As I understand you are unable to restore the laptop to a previous time and here's what you need to do!
One or more of the following errors displays when attempting to use user-created or HP-provided recovery discs:
This computer is not supported by the System Recovery Discs.
These are not the correct recovery discs.
These messages contain error codes.

If you have used the same media before and it isn't working anymore, it's possible the bios was updated causing the issue or if you've made any hardware changes to your computer (such as, changing motherboard, hard disk drive, etc...)
Either way, you will need to contact HP Technical Support (For free hardware/software repair, if your computer is within the HP warranty) by clicking on the following link:
(1) Once the support page opens please select the country in which you're located. Next, enter your HP model number on the right.
(2) Next, choose the 'Contact Support' tab at the top and scroll down to the bottom of the 'HP Support- Contact' page to fill out the form provided with your contact information.
(3) Once completed click the 'Show Options' icon on the bottom right.
(4) Lastly, scroll down to the bottom of the page and select 'Get phone number.' A case number and phone number will now populate for you.

Sorry getting back so late. The computer is out of waranty, bought in 2009 as a gift for wife. Would the restore function on the computer do the same as the restore disk from hp, or dose the hp restore disks do a deeper or more complete restore, thanks?
