Re: Volume control keys on keyboard not working

Hi,

Try downloading and installing the latest driver from HP on the link below - this may be the same one applied by HPSA, but try installing it again.

ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp52501-53000/sp52790.exe

After the installation has completed, restart the notebook.

If the above fails to solve the issue, try reinstalling Quick Launch Buttons from the installer on the following link.

ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp53001-53500/sp53135.exe

Again, restart after the installation has completed.

Re: Volume control keys on keyboard not working

I have noticed that these keys work fine when laptop is started with charger plugged in. But when started on battery power, the keys dont work.

Re: Volume control keys on keyboard not working

Hi,

First of all, shutdown the notebook, unplug the AC Adapter, remove the battery, and then hold down the Power button for a full minute.

Now, plug in the AC Adapter without the battery inserted, start the notebook, open windows Control Panel, open Device Manager, expand the entry for Batteries, right click on and the Microsoft ACPI Compliant Control Method Battery and select Uninstall - do not uninstall anything else here.  When the uninstall is complete, shut the PC down, unplug the AC Adapter, re-insert the battery and then start the PC on just the battery.  Windows will automatically reinstall the driver - leave Windows running for a few minutes. Shutdown the PC again.  Now plug in the AC Adapter ( with the battery still inserted ) and start the notebook to see if this has helped the issue at all.

If the above doesn't help, from the Start Menu, open All Programs, open Accessories, right click the Command Prompt and select 'Run as Administrator'.  In to the prompt type the following command and hit enter.

sfc /scannow                 ( note that there is a space between sfc and the / )

Let the process complete, then type exit and hit enter.  Restart the notebook.

Regards,

Re: Volume control keys on keyboard not working

Hi,

Is it possible that HPSA has installed another version of the audio driver again?  To check this, download and install the previous driver on the link below again.

ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp52501-53000/sp52790.exe

After the installation has completed, restart the notebook.  Let me know if this helps.
