WINDOWS 10 - HP Protect Tools Manager

HP Recommended
HP ProBook 4540s
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

Previously when checking my laptop for compatibility with Windows 10 "HP Protect Tools Manager " was tagged as incompatible.  Today when I ran the check, it reported  there were no Apps that were incompatible.  The only thing was the requirement to reinstall language packs.   Does this mean that HP has updated "protect tools manager" so that it is now compatible with Windows 10 and it doesn't need to be removed before upgrading to Windows 10?

Certainly possible -- depends on which version of Client Security has been installed on your system.

  • Enhancements: This version of HP Client Security Manager is no longer blocked by the Windows 10 upgrade (migration) process. After this package is installed, the system can be upgraded / migrated to Windows 10 without uninstalling HP Client Security Manager before running the Windows 10 upgrade.

If you decide to try the "migration tolerant" (new) version of Client Security:

  • Create a Restore Point

Create a Restore Point: System Restore XP OR System Restore W7 OR System Restore W8-W10

Stop all programs:  Browsers, games, Applications, etc.

Control Panel > icon view > System > System Protection

Click (Highlight) your main disk (C) > Select Create a Restore Point

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

  • Read the information file about the new program
  • Download and Install the new version

Unfortunately, I cannot test this for you; I am running Windows 10 Pro native (no migration).

Perhaps another Expert can provide an alternative option.
