WiFi Printer setup in RV

I have the HP C4700 WiFi Printer, 2 Laptops with Win XP with WiFi features.

This printer is setup in our RV.

I want to be able to print wireless to the printer from both laptops.

I use a Verzion wireless aircard for my internet connection.

I was told by a kid in Best Buy, that a Wireless G Router was what I needed.

That did not work, nothing to connect the router to.

I have DSL and a network at home, but I want to be able to travel

and have the wireless printer capabilites.

I am not very knowledgeable about networks, just enough to get myself into trouble.

What about a printer server, would that work?

Thanks for any help you may come up with.

Re: WiFi Printer setup in RV

I don't think a print server is going to help your present configuration...

The C4700 is a series marker...check the manufacturer's label to identify the specific printer model # (C47XX?)

Do you have Bluetooth capability on both of the laptops? That might be the better way to go, for your particular mobile configuration.

What are the brand/model of the 2 laptops?

Re: WiFi Printer setup in RV

The Printer is a HP Photosmart C4795

The Laptops are Dell, Inspiron 600 and Dell, XPS M1210, both with Win XP.

I do not think they have Bluetooth capability,

but I have seen the little things you plug into your

USB port to give your computer Bluetooth capability.

Would those work with the computers?

Is Bluetooth hard to setup?

Thanks for your help!

Re: WiFi Printer setup in RV

Follow the user guides' instructions for both laptops and the printer, to setup an Ad-Hoc(computer-computer)wireless network configuration?

I'm providing instructions for the printer, you'll have to research the configuration instructions for each of the latops, in their respective manuals.

I'm pretty sure that the Windows XP operating system will not support 2 network connections that are running simultaneously on any one computer. So, you may have to perform the added step of downloading internet files you wish to print, to a local folder then, disabling your cellular wireless connection/ enabling your adhoc connection in order to print the downloaded material. I may be wrong, I'm not that experienced with cellular wireless internet...
