I wouldn't go so negative on a different fix. I think there is more than one issue described in this thread and that different fixes will work in different situations. I don't think the "hardware fix" is the only thing to try.

 

I had commented earlier that I had a problem with the wi-fi turning on and off and my search for a fix led me to this thread. I chose not to try the hardware fix but to try some other things. As described earlier, I applied a software update that seemed to have no effect, then I simply stopped using the wi-fi for a few days and noticed the wi-fi indicator had stopped turning off. I have been back to wi-fi for over a year and have not experienced a recurrence of the problem. My wi-fi had been turning off several times a day, sometimes multiple times in an hour. Now it turns off no more than once a month which is acceptable and probably due to user error.
