Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I just upgraded to Windows 10 (64-bit) home and my mini display port doesn't work now. The cable I had was working before the upgrade and now it doesn't. I checked and I didn't see any update available.

Probably a video driver problem. Go into the control panel and device manager and see what is showing for display adapter.

The problem is partly solved. This morning I thought to just try the mini display port connection and NOT also have the HDMI connected.

Turns out that it will NOT allow BOTH to connect.

However, with Win 8.1 I COULD do both!

So, I STILL have a problem situation. How do you get Win 10 to connect to both at the same time?

Try closing the screen of the laptop. Some video cards will do 2 displays but not 3.

I possibly wasn't clear about this. BEFORE upgrading to Windows 10 it WORKED! In fact I could actually do THREE monitors on the tablet (I have a USB 3.0 to HDMI that isn't working either).

So, when the OS was Windows 8.1 it WORKED. Now it doesn't. So, do I need to do within Windows 10 to make it to function?

Windows 10 is brand new so there are going to be a few bugs. Nobody is a perfect expert in all its eccentricities yet. I am a volunteer. I do not work for HP. I cannot write their driver Code. My thought would be to reinstall the video driver. What is showing up in Device Manager for display adapter?

The USB 3.0 to HDMI is likely not an HP device but I am thinking that is also a driver issue. When you do a Windows 10 update install it goes in and removes the old drivers and only puts back the ones it wants to put in there. It can be hit or miss and might require manual intervention. So far for me it is running maybe 98% on about 10-12 upgrades on machines from 6 or 7 years old to brand new.

Let's try to track down the driver that is installed and see if we can find a better one or maybe it is just going to be a matter of waiting for a couple rounds of updates.

Close as I can tell you have the Intel HD 5500 video chip. Here is the Windows 10 driver just issued July 29, the day Windows 10 came out:

Thanks for the feedback. I hope I didn't sound like I didn't appreciate you trying to help. Fortunately I don't yet use this computer as my primary one when writing (which is when I'd need more than two monitors at times).
I'm working on some deadlines and will try what you suggest in the next day or so.

I am thankful for you taking the time to provide feedback.
