Windows 10 Upgrade Wifi Adapter Issues

SOLVED - SOLVED - SOLVED

Get the latest drivers from Intel, install and connect.

Our Pavilion Notebook has an Intel(R) Dual Band Wireless-AC 3160 card with the following Status: This device cannot start (Code10), resulting in no WiFi.

I tried the Registry fixes mentioned earlier to no avail.

I tried Intel on the weekend but kept getting Page not found.

Today the download of updated drivers worked here: https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/25199/Intel-PROSet-Wireless-Software-for-Windows-10

Choose between 32-bit and 64-bit versions. The DE versions are driver only. The e versions are driver and software. I used the e version.

Download, run the exe, select Express install, wait for Success, reboot and connect.

All my wireless settings needed to be reentered - not a drama.

Good luck.

"Hello,

(Dunno how to quote)

I tried the latest drivers for my Intel card from HP. They didn't work, so I found the Intel latest drivers. They worked.

Suggest that you do the same, if you haven't done so already.

Windows 10 Upgrade Wifi Adapter Issues

Thank you for suggesting this. I did go onto HP and did all the updates for my laptop model. I still have not restarted my computer after those installs and am really hesitant to re-install windows 10. There was no Bios update for my model, however.

I really don't have time to spend 3 hours with an HP support person to troubleshoot as I have done in the past. Thank you for your response.

Here's something else to try:

First check that your WiFi isn't broken.

Turn off your laptop.

Wait 15 secs

Turn it on

Keep tapping the F2 key until the HP Utility Page appears

Select Components Test List

Select Wireless Module

Perform the test

It says that it will take 30 secs. My test came back instantly with OK, which means that WiFi exists. If yours fails then you will have a hardware issue.

I did this and there was no Bios update for my model so that apparently is not what was responsible for my wifi adapter being totally MISSING after installing Windows 10. I did do the other updates for my model, however.

I had Reatek. Driver updates did not help. I ran HP Support Assistant and installed the update from HP for the BIOS. I let it install and then rebooted. IT WORKED. Everything is fine. Check HP Support Assistant app to see if you have pending software updates from HP. I hope it works for you.
