Windows 7 Home Basic

Pavilion g6-2136tx Notebook PC
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

Due to OS problem I formated my ''C" drive, where i can get windows 7 Home Basic OS CD for OS instalation in my laptop.

I have Product Key too.

I asked the Microsoft supported team, but they said contact your Laptop manufacturer for recovery CD. So please let me know the process to get CD.

Hello,

Thank you for posting in the HP Support forum. Welcome!

Before formatting the C drive, did you have a Windows OEM version - Windows preinstalled by HP with your computer. When you bought the computer initially, did it have Win 7 preinstalled OR you installed WIndows later ?

If you have a product key, you can try to download WIndows 7 installational ISO image from Microsoft >> https://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/software-download/windows7

Then, burn the image to a DVD and use to install Win 7.

Post successful WIn 7 installation, you can download and use HP Supprot Assistant to get the latest updates from HP such as drivers updates.

Let me know if this works for you.

Your feedback and update is highly appreciated

Hello,

In this case, it won't let you download/activate WIndows because your WIndows is OEM type (a.k.a. came preinstalled by PC vendor like HP).

Did you really format the HDD ?

HP computers typically come with hidden partitions that can be used for factory reset/recovery to get you back to initial state. But if you formateed the HDD, the these partitions are now gone. You need to obtain recovery media that contains Windows from HP or from 3rd party vendor like http://www.computersurgeons.com

Please, contact HP support to check for recovery media for your computer:

=======

Once you get recovery media, please use to boot from them to install the image of WIndows. here are instructions >> http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c01867418#AbT4

Let me know how this goes. 🙂
