The same happened when Win8 was rolled out. Took about 10 days before Beats Audio was functional again.
You will have to wait. Find the correct IDT driver download on hp support/Downloads. bookmark it's adress.
Check back often and re-install many times.
eventually the beats audio will start working again.
I am currently using the horrid win media player eq & srs to get some ooomph out of my HP 7core envy14 beats edition
i promise it will be fine in the end :manwink:

The same problem with my HP Pavilion dv6-6c05er.
IDT Audio codec 6.10.6418.0 worked correctly in Windows 8. After installing Windows 8.1 on my laptop it still works. But changing bass & treble, EQ have no effect to output sound. Hotkey Fn+B isn't work.
After installing this ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp59001-59500/sp59154.exe [ IDT Audio codec 6.10.6425.0] began work hotkey fn+B [only].
I will wait update of driver for 8.1 :)
Hope it will coming soon
