Windows Updates Won't Download

I Have An HP Pavilion G6 Notebook PC. I Keep Getting The "You Are Running An Outdated Version Of Windows 8" Message & Every Time I Go To The Store & Try To Upgrade To Windows 8.1 It Always Tells Me I Need To Install Important Windows Updates First. So When I Go Do That I See That I Have 97 Updates & When I Click On Install They Just Stay On Downloading For Hours & Hours & Hours & None Of Them Ever Download. What Should I Do?

Hello,

Thank you for posting in the HP Support forum.

Make sure you have this Windows Update :

KB2871389

After you apply this update and restart the computer, you should be offered the 8.1 Upgrade through the Store.

Re. the geneal Windows Update issues:

There are few more tips re. the Win 8.1 upgrade , from HP >> http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c03847367

Let me know if this helps.
