Re: Windows failed to start & F11 key not responding - cant reach the recovery

XP, Vista, W7??

XP, run a chkdsk as described in this article

http://kb.wisc.edu/helpdesk/page.php?id=5097

.

Vista, W7  run a chkdsk command from the windows recovery environment,

http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tutorials/tutorial147.html

once you are at the command prompt, type

chkdsk /r

and then hit the enter key.

It may take some time depending on the size of your hard disk, be patient and Do Not interrupt the process, once done restart the PC, see if it will boot now.

.
