Wireless Mouse/Mouse Driver Inaccessible (HP Pavilion dv7-1245dx)

HP Recommended

After an unexpected system shutdown, my HP Pavilion dv7-1245dx is no longer recognizing my Microsoft Wireless Mobile Mouse 3000.  It IS recognizing everything else I connect into the USB ports, and is recognizing the built-in touchpad mouse (which is no use to me).  I attempted to do a System Restore, but only today's Restore Point (which was created after the mouse failure) shows up.  How do I either a) restore/roll back/replace my mouse driver (if that is the problem), or b) Find an older Restore Point?

Or... whatever the problem actually is.  I don't even know.

Update:  I have reinstalled the drivers for both Infrared devices AND the HID-compliant mouse three times, tested the mouse with the device pointchecker, and tried a second plug-and-play mouse.  The computer is recognizing that the mouse is plugged in, and that it is a mouse; it says that the wireless connection is strong and the battery is full.  The mouse is is just not moving the pointer, at all.

Is there a setting or something that got disconnected?
