bios administrator password

HP Recommended
probook 4320s
Microsoft Windows 8.1 (64-bit)

I can't access the bios setup of my HP ProBook 4320s. It asks me for administrator password witch I don't have.

After three trials on-screen keyboard comes out and then when I hit enter  "authentication failed system locked press the power button to restart the system"

I also tried to reset bios by removing rtc battery but the bios administrator password won't remove.what another way to access bios setup?

Thank you.

Hi,

Unfortunately,  business machines such as Probooks or Elitebooks have more stringent security than consumer models - they don't produce 'halt codes', the password cannot be derived from the Serial No. and the code is stored in non-volatile memory so removing the RTC cell will not reset the password in this case.

If you Contact HP Business support they should be able to send you a customised SMC.bin file which you can use at boot to reset the password.

Regards,

DP-K

@artyom_ilyin

I have not tested it on the 4320s yet.

Let me see if I can find one in the warehouse and give it a go.

I will let you know the result.

Sorry @artyom_ilyin

The sales rep just informed me that they sold and shipped all the 4320s laptops on Monday.

The only ones left are the scrap/no-power ones.

Download these files.

https://www.dropbox.com/sh/zu4kdgxm052l87d/AAAMi-kfX4AVH8oTCbsOM4X9a?dl=0

Insert clean USB flash drive.

Then run USB Image tool.

Choose the flash drive then click on RESTORE.

After restore remove flash drive.

Insert flash drive into locked laptop and boot. ”If HDD is installed remove before booting.”

At C:\OUTPUT   type CD.. “Then hit enter”

Type HPBR   “Then hit enter”

First thing is to save your settings.

Select #3 re-program.

Press “S” to save system information.

Type HPBR and hit enter.

Since your model is not listed select “SHOTGUN.”

After reboot repeat “SHOTGUN” a second time.

Let me know the result so I can update my list.

Some instructions here. “If you cannot boot from USB there are instructions to make a bootable HDD.”

Hello!

I asked russian tech support (i'm in Russia) for help and they sent me an instruction with SMC.BIN file for my exactly laptop. With this I could restore BIOS to defaults and set my own password.

Thank you very much for your help and have a good day!
