Hello guys,

I have some abit old laptops (compaq presario cq56)  available for my group users, and i was wondering if i could disable the wifi button in this way they will always have wifi connection on, because most of my users problems revolve around this issue sometimes i cant be able to access their laptops remotely to solve the real issue , so is there any option in the bios or anywhere else i can alter in order to keep the wifi on all the times?

Thank you and best Regards.

Hi,

Unfortunately there isn't any option on the notebook to completely disable the wireless button, however you can change how it is activated, from just having to press the f11 key, to requiring that the Fn key is held down when pressing f11 which should make it much harder to trigger accidentally - you can do this as follows.

Shut down the notebook.  Tap away at the esc key as you start the notebook to enter the Start-up Menu.  Select the Bios option ( f10 ), then make the change shown in the document on the following link.
