dv9999us ssd

Does anyone have any experience with adding an SSD to a dv9999us (dv9700us)?
There is a second drive bay. Wondering if it will take a SATA II or SATA III SSD, or possibly an mSATA SSD?

no mSATA....there is no slot. The interface is original SATA (SATA-I) but it will take a SATA-II or SATA-III SSD. I suggest placing the SSD in the primary (bootable) bay and running Windows from it and use the hard drive in the secondary bay for storage. You will need a caddy to hold the drive in the second bay.
