Elitebook 850 G3
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have a new HP Elitebook 850 G3. For the three weeks I have owned it, I can say that it is always next to silent, no matter what load it is processing. 

 

I took it on a short trip for the first time and the moment I turned it on in the hotel I was staying at, I heard the fan for the first time. I am certain that it is operating at high speed and it hasn't stopped for two days now.

 

The laptop isn't in the least bit warm and no matter what I do, or don't do, the speed remains the same...on high. 

 

Aside from this, everything seems to be operating normally. Can anyone help? Thanks!

Hello,

 

You can go into F10 to change your Fan setting. TO access BIOS - restart your PC and hit the ESC key immediately, this will bring up a Boot up menu - Select F10 and go into the setup and change the fan settings.

The fan, interestingly and oddly, stopped over-reacting without any intervention at all, after having been on high for over two weeks.

 

In future, I will use your/this advice should this issue arise again.
