hp 15-r031si: Replacing 2gb memory chip with 4 or 8 gb chip - is this possible?

hp 15-r031si
Microsoft Windows 8 (64-bit)

Hi there

I have the hp 15-r031si with 2gb ram and I want to speed up the computer. As there is only 1 memory slot, is it possible to replace this with 4 or 8gb memory chip so I take out the 2gb and replace it?

Please advise.

Thanks!

Yes it can take an 8 gig module in the single slot:

Your Service manual

See p. 76. The bad news is that accessing the memory slot means you have to tear it down far enough to remove the motherboard. Very laborious.
