hp update internal error 2739

I have a HP Pavilion dv6000 running Windows Vista.  When Hp update downloads version 5.2 the download fails.  When windows configures HP update the error message "Internal Error 2739" appears and the installation stops.  In attempting to uninstall the old HP update before installing the 5.2 version, I get the same error message "internal error 2739".  Can anyone suggest a solution?

Re: hp update internal error 2739

I get the same Internal Error 2739 on my Dell Inspiron 530 running Vista (32-bit) and the HP update program keeps trying to intsall it every time I start up the PC.  Hopefully HP gets the message and solves the problem.

Re: hp update internal error 2739

I I solved my problem with error 2739 by contacting HP support and trouble shooting and communicating with a live technician on a chat line.  The problem stems from your adobe programs.  I had to uninstall all my adobe programs, restart my computer, and then the techinican took me through a series of administrative command prompts on my computer.  I could then successfully download HP update 5.2.  I then reinstalled my Adobe programs.  I suggest you work through the support chat line with a support technician.

Re: hp update internal error 2739

Hi,

Finally managed to install HP Update 5.2 after constantly getting error message 2739

Figure the cause was that previous version was installed while logged on as different user so wouldn't un-install.

Logged on as that user, un-installed previous version, then installed 5.2 under my log-in

Worked for me!!!

Re: hp update internal error 2739

I had the same problem but none of the previous suggestions seem to help. In my case the problem was caused by missing registry information for the javascript dll. Basically, Vista did not know how to run a javascript (which is run as part of the installation). Just open a command prompt as administrator, then "cd %windir%\system32" and "regsvr32 jscript.dll". After I did that, I could install both HP Update 5.2 and HP Active Support Library.

Re: hp update internal error 2739

The update is trying to delete thye previous version, and if you have more than 1 user in your computer, the "HP Update" Program is "partially" installed in all of them.

1. You should unistall the "HP Update" IN EVERY AND ALL USERS. Please make sure!!!!

2. Go to http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/product?product=3892964&lc=en&cc=us&dlc=en&lang=en&cc=us

and download the new version of HP Update (It will install in all your users).

3. Re-start your computer.

I hope this helps!!!
