install win7 on envy x360?

envy x360
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello!

I have a fairly new Envy x360 that came with Windows 10 preinstalled.  I do not like Win10, and have learned that many of my programs won't run on Win10.  I want to go back to Win 7 pro, but am not sure the hardware will work with an older OS.  Any recommendations on how to do this (get rid of Win10 and install Win 7)?

Thanks in advance for your help!

Hello;

Allow me to welcome you to the HP forums!

With notebooks, the primary problem with trying to run a different OS than the one preinstalled is the need for the specialized HP drivers for the specialized hardware that comes in the laptop.  Desktops don't present such difficulties because they tend to use more generic hardware and you can often swap out a piece of hardware if you need to.  Laptops don't provide that flexibility.

If you will provide the detailed product number of your laptop, I can check to see if HP provides Win7 drivers for it:  http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c03754824?jumpid=reg_r1002_usen_c-001_title_r0001

We can proceed once you provide the information.

Thanks

Thanks for the detail info ...

Sorry, but HP supplies only Win10 drivers for that laptop.

I would strongly advise AGAINST downgrading it to Win7, because you will then be stuck with using only the generic drivers that Microsoft provides, and this will leave some hardware nonfunctional -- typically the video and audio.

Sorry, but if you wanted a Win7 laptop, you should have bought one with that already installed.
